Katie Merrick

Katie Merrick is a junior from Aurora, Illinois studying Instrumental Music Education at the University of Illinois. She studies under Professor Debra Richtmeyer and Wilson Poffenberger. She also studied under Eric Goluszka for four years. At Illinois Katie participates in the Hindsley Symphonic band as well as performing in a saxophone quartet. She has also performed with the Illini Women’s Choir and the Balinese Gamelan ensemble at Illinois. She was chosen to attend Future Music Educators at ILMEA two years in a row. Katie graduated from Metea Valley High School, where she was a part of the Wind Ensemble and Chamber Singers, and performed at many events through these groups including Illinois SuperState Festival at UIUC in 2015, ILMEA All State 2014 and 2015, performing at the USS Missouri and performing with the United States Air Force Band.
