Kelvin Anderson
Kelvin Anderson is currently a Freshman at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign studying Instrumental Music Education. Even though he primarily focuses on a Classical style, he is also well-versed in Jazz. He attended Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights, Illinois under the direction of Greg Bimm. He was the marching band saxophone section leader his senior year, and also co-section leader of the saxophones in the Marian Catholic Symphonic Band. He also played baritone saxophone his sophomore through senior year in the Marian Catholic Jazz Band under the direction of Scott Oliver. Kelvin has also played in a number of small saxophone ensembles (duets, quartets, sax choir) all four years for special local events and Solo & Ensemble, receiving a total ten 1st Division ratings and two Best of Day awards. He is very excited to be studying at U of I, and although he is focusing on becoming a music educator, Kelvin will take every opportunity to become the best saxophone player he can be. He is currently playing baritone sax in an undergraduate studio quartet and studying under Doctoral student Evan Clark.
